Please review information on heating and cooling of the atmosphere, causes of vertical and horizontal movements of air, and types of heat transfer before your assessment on Thursday.  We will cover layers of the atmosphere, review gases of the atmosphere, and cloud formation as well.  Here is a schematic of the layers of the atmosphere.  The areas boarding 2 layers, when the altitude changes but the temperature does not, are called pauses.  Below is also a graph showing the relationship between temperature and altitude for each layer.
